Pilgrim badges were sold in the medieval period as souvenirs of pilgrimage. All of the badges below are accurate copies of surviving pewter artefacts. P5-St Edward the Confessor, Westminster
King Edward the Confessor was canonised in 1161, his shrine in Westminster Abbey attracting both Royal and popular patronage throughout the medieval period.
Many examples of this or very similar badges have been found throughout the country.
